	Copal - 25 grams Other Names: Bursera odorata, Mexican frankincense   Magickal Uses: divination, trance work, cleansing, protection, spell-breaking, purification, concentration, add power to spells, meditation, contact other planes, banish to other planes    Planetary Associations: Sun, Jupiter This resin was used in the past as a substitute for the burning of a human heart. The resin of the copal tree Bursera odorata (among other similar trees), native to Latin America, has been used ritually by Mesoamericans for centuries. While in the past, large amounts of Copal Resin were burned as incense and sacrifice on top of the Aztec and Mayan pyramids, nowadays it is used for everything from medicines to glue. With a heady, very hypnotic scent which is warm and sweet, having none of frankincense's bitterness, burn this resin to get a room full of resinous and slightly woody scent which is mildly earthy and yet spicy. Traditional Shaman's incense especially popular in Mexico amongst the native healers. This resin was seen as the "blood" of the tree and so food for the native Mesoamerican deities. £2/$3.70
	H131 - Copal Resin Wafer Stick - Measuring around 14.5" Other Names: Bursera odorata, Mexican frankincense   Magickal Uses: divination, trance work, cleansing, protection, spell-breaking, purification, concentration, add power to spells, meditation, contact other planes, banish to other planes    Planetary Associations: Sun, Jupiter This wonderful stick of copal resin makes a great gift for yourself, or for someone special. Burned on charcoal rounds, I also like to use it in ceremonial fires to add a wonderful scent to the smoke - Copal is a more mature form of resin. The word copal comes from the Spanish word copalli which means incense, a task for which copal can in fact be employed. Many years ago in University, I learned that copal was used as a replacemenmt for sacrificing the human heart in Mayan ritual. Seems a Goddess gave the Mayans the knowledge of this resin and the smoke from it was as aweet as the sacrificed human heart and that is how copal came to be used by the Mayans. I use copal in ritual more than any other resin or herb. The wonderful scent you get from burning it is quite plesant and lingers long after the resin has burned out on the charcoal. I highly recommend this and have already taken a stick for my own rituals. £8/$13

Carried for protection or to protect a place, sprinkled around the perimeter. Must be used on charcoal as is non-combustible. This resin is in large chunks and is of a lower grade than our powdered dragons blood which is the highest grade, finest available on the market. This is best used by people who may be unfamiliar with the scent or when used as an offering and not burnt as incense. £3/$5
	High Qualitry Dragons Blood Resin - Each pack is 25g. Carried for protection or to protect a place, sprinkled around the perimeter. Must be used on charcoal as is non-combustible. This resin is in powdered form and has been rubbed from the fruit (unlike lower quality which is a boiled off version). This is of a very high quality and comes in a very dark red granular powder that does look like blood. It needs to be burnt on charcoal but we recommend 1/2 a block as a little does go a long way. £10.25/$17
	Sandarac - 25 grams Other Names: Tetraclinis articulata, Gum Juniper, thyon, thyine, arartree, araar, avar, Gharghar    Magickal Uses: meditation, healing, protection, clarifying, strengthening, cleansing, language, wisdom, connecting to others, easing tension, shape-shifting, astral travel.    Planetary Associations: Mercury, Sun, Saturn A fragrant, brittle resin which is obtained from the North African, Maltan and Southern Spanish sandarac tree, Tetraclinis articulata. The resin is exuded from the bark in long yellowish, mostly opaque tears. This resin when burned or heated has a fresh, clean smell and was possibly one of the ingredients in Kyphi. The best way to release the scent of this resin is by heating some on a charcoal round - use foil on the round to avoid burning the resin and just melt it. This resin is soluble in alcohol so can be used to create various potions along with other resins. For a more magickal use, this resin is also used in powdered form to clean and 'dry' vellum which is too 'damp' to write on. This difficult to find resin got its more common name from the Assyrian meaning something akin to 'bright as moon' - a magickal connotation. It is thought to be the 'gold' of the three gifts of the three wise men in the Christmas story and goven the nature of the other two gifts and the distribution of the native populations of this tree, it may be true. Due to its golden, opaque colour and they way it resembles the natural product, Aristotle thought it was exuded by bees just as honey and beeswax are. The populations of this tree are endangered or vulnerable. £3.50/$6.50
	Dammar resin - 30 grams Other Names Shorea species, kauri pine    Magickal Uses: money attraction, uplifting, illumination, understanding, dispel meloncholy, clarvoyance, contacting angels    Planetary Associations: Neptune, Sun, Moon, Mercury Dammar is apparently just the Malay word for resin and is also known as cat-eye resin in Germany although one source cites it as meaning "light". A clear resin with not much scent unburned, it was once used for lighting but now is more commonly employed by artists as a resin. As an incense ingredient, it is excellent for blending with essential oils before burning. It is a hard, brittle resin which varies in color from clear to slightly yellowish and comes in large chunks. Blends excellently and is sometimes used as a replacement for gum mastic as a less expensive alternative. £0.90/$1.65
	Mastic/Gum Mastic - 30 grams grams Other Names Pistacia lentiscus, mastic, Chios Tears,    Magickal Uses: cleansing, clearing, lifts exaustion, meditation, reflection, refreshing    Planetary Associations: Mercury Gum Mastic is a mostly transparent, off-white coloured, drop-shaped natural resin from the mastic tree. This relative of the pistashio grows only on the southern part of the island of Chios, Greece. In Ancient Egypt, this resin was imported as a very popular incense. It was a key ingredient in the ancient "Kyphi" recipes and it was also used in pure form. Mastic creates a plesant, light, balsam-like, fresh and lemony, gentle fragrance. In Ancient Egypt, mastic was also called "the fragrance that pleases the gods." £8/$17

	h90 - sage - The term "Smudging" has come into common usage within Contemporary Shamanism; and approaches influenced by this; largely through its Native American derivations. To Smudge is to purify and cleanse yourself, and to make contact with the spirits- however you conceive them to be. From this we can see that Smudging is a powerful but simple way to use ceremony of connection and grounding in ones life. £7.50/$12
	h91 - sage and sweetgrass - Smudging is also prayer- many native peoples consider that the smoke of the smouldering smudge mix is taken by the spirits in good ways, and if you make such offerings then the spirits will know you and want to help you in your life. 	h92 - sage and cedar - Smudge sticks are most easily lit from a candle flame (Matches generally go out before the stick is lit). Once there's a flame blow it out so that the smudge stick is smoldering, not burning. The idea is to get curls of smoke, not to set the smudge stick on fire. (Special note: Don't smudge while infants, pregnant women, or people with respiratory diseases are in the room as the active chemical can be harmful.) £7.50/$12
	h93 - sage and copal - If you're smudging yourself, fan the smoke so that it touches all parts of you. You may want to especially focus on areas where you feel there are blockages or where there has been or is physical, emotional, or psychic pain. Either single or multiple feather fans are excellent for fanning smoke over yourself or others. If you're smudging objects, such as crystals, you can hold them in the smoke. If you're smudging a group of crystals, a room or a group of people, walk about the perimeter, giving special attention to the corners and the places behind doors and fan the smoke throughout with a smudging fan. £7.50/$12

	H81 - Lakota white sage wand, 14". This sage (salvia apiana) is highly revered by American Indians. For spiritual or medicinal purposes white sage is a powerful herb. American Indians have said that the smoke is useful not only for the purification of the body, but for material objects as well. For this reason sage is considered a sacred plant to many tribes. For sweat lodges, some tribes boil up wild sage into a tea to splash on the heated stones when more steam is required, as well as to splash on their own bodies. 	H109 - Sweetgrass Braids (18" - 22" long) These braids are wonderfully long and rich with scent. They infuse any space with their unique smell even when not being burned. There is a lot of sweetgrass in each braid and so these will last you quite a long time. Very important to the Sioux and Cherokee nations, its botanical name is Hierochloe Oderata. In these tribes, the sweetgrass is braided like hair braids. It could be burnt by lighting the end of it, or (more economically) by shaving little bits of it onto charcoal in a brazier. Sweetgrass is burnt after smudging with sage, to welcome in good influences after the bad had been driven out. It can also be carried in medicine bags and given to friends as an offering. Sweetgrass is very rare today, and traditional Plains people have been attempting to protect the last of it. Cedar, which is not endangered, can safely be used this way. Also Pinon pine needles (used more frequently by the Southwest Teneh, like the Navajo and Apache as well as the Pueblo people and the Zuni) and Copal (used by the Yaqui and in ancient times by the Azteca and the Maya) have similar effect. £4.50/$7.00
