| More and more often, people are turning to traditions of the Native North American Indians. As part Cherokee and a member of the New Moon team, I have assembled some popular and some essential items from my understanding of the traditions and practices of the many divergent tribes of the Native North American peoples. All our products are genuine, from Natives or companies who give back to the Native community. We have continued our tradition of selecting only the highest quality products here by bringing you some of the best Native products on offer. The earth is our mother, we must take care of Her, honour Her, and keep Her ceremonies sacred. Now that the sacred times of many different tribes have come as was foretold, the ceremonies and traditions are coming back with the next generation. It is the hope of all at New Moon that the traditions sacred to the Native American people, all of them in their myriad forms, are never lost. The Native Americans use incense in prayer and in all aspects of daily life. In the North West, sweetgrass and knichknick are used, whilst the Pueblo Indians use pine needles and cedar. The Hopi use Juniper tops and the Plains Indians use cedar tops and sage to purify and to make offerings. These days, a mishmash of traditional practices are used by many seeking a spiritual path beyond that which they have experienced directly. We hope that the products offered here will help you get a clearer idea of what you wish to use and *how* to use it. |

Black Elk Speaks (comment on website) This was an excellent account of Sioux history from a Native American point of view. I read this book in 2 days
it is very interesting and easy to read. I agree with another review who liked the fact that they poked fun at
themselves and the soldiers. The visions are very descriptive. Black Elk was involved in most of the well known
historical points for the Sioux.

Black Elk : The Sacred Ways of a Lakota (comment on website) Those who know Wallace Black Elk personally know that Bill Lyons captures the flavor of Grandfather's humor,
the deeper teachings that lay behind the words, as well as the pain and difficulties that have gone into making
access to the Spirit available to all. When you read this book, you'll know why the early government and
Christian religions wanted to stop the Indian practices - they're real, and you'll be glad for the triumph of these
sacred teachings. Like his predecessor, Nicholas Black Elk, Wallace Black Elk's vision goes beyond the borders
of race to encompass all beings, so that once again, the great hoop may be whole. For Indian peoples who have
lost contact with spiritual origins, whatever they may be, this book can be a powerful reclamation of the Spirit. *UK* purchase: Amazon.co.uk US purchase: Amazon.com |

A Retreat With Black Elk : Living in the Sacred Hoop (comment on website) Called a spiritual genius by many today, Nicholas Black Elk is credited with the reawakening and recovery of the
pan-Native American ritual and spiritual tradition in America. His life reflected his conviction that his people could
live again spiritually through the Catholic and Lakota traditions, both of which he embraced with dedication in his
lifetime. *UK* purchase: Amazon.co.uk US purchase: Amazon.com |

Urban Shaman (comment on website) Years ago I was inspired by Bach's Jonathon & Illusions...so much so, that at times I referred to Illusions as my
"bible" in the sense that I gave me great inspiration spiritually. After I read the Urban Shaman last year, I returned
to the store and purchased every copy they had to give to friends! What impressed me most was that my skeptic,
highly educated and scientific self did not balk at any of his teachings...a first for any book/belief. I have always
been a warrior and a survivor and now I aim for something better...harmony and unity. This book will be my
"bible" for some time to come and I hope to study Huna in Hawaii someday! What an inspiration! *UK* purchase: Amazon.co.uk US purchase: Amazon.com |

Shaman in a 9 to 5 World (comment from website) Patricia Telesco's Urban Pagan took the first steps toward unifying a philosophical ideal with the conditions of
modern life. Now she presents a neopagan's complete guide to maintaining a powerful connection with nature,
even when sacred groves and wild rivers are far away. Offering meditations, rituals, and guided visualizations, she
suggests how the noise and hectic pace of the city can be countered with simple gestures, such as lighting a candle
at dawn to create moments of peace, thanks, and renewal. Both an introduction and a valuable refresher,
Shaman in a 9 to 5 World adapts a vast array of ancient shamanic traditions to city life, including fasting,
drumming, praying, creating sacred spaces, interpreting omens and signs, and even shapeshifting and divination.
Covering everything from tools and supplies to power animals, totems, amulets, fetishes, and the elements, this
book provides step-by-step guidance for healers of the human tribe. *UK* purchase: Amazon.co.uk US purchase: Amazon.com |
| No Image . | Shaman and the Medicine Wheel (comment on website) An interesting read if you want to learn about Native American spirituality and medicine wheels. This book
contains a segment of the author's life history and her experiences on her life path. It also contains a brief
description of how to set up a medicine wheel of your own. Quite a bit involves her battle with her own illness.
She also deals with her problems relating to full-blooded Native Americans, since she is of mixed blood *UK* purchase: Amazon.co.uk US purchase: Amazon.com |
| No Image . | The Shaman : Patterns of Religious Healing Among the Ojibway Indians
(Civilization of the American Indian, Vol 165) (comment on website) The author wisely places the practices of shamanism within the cultural context. At no point does the author make
the mistake of reducing the shamanic practices to deities and such but correctly emphasizes the "forces" and
movements of nature of which the shaman is an "expression." Excellent read for anyone generally interested in
shamanism or specifically in the Ojibwe practices of the Mide society. *UK* purchase: Amazon.co.uk US purchase: Amazon.com |
